What is the drug Wyatt's wife was addicted to in Tombstone? I always thought it was opium or some sort of opiate but I can't recall what they called it. It came across like she was addicted to purple drank.

I can't remember either. I'll remember at the most inopportune time because I'll obsess until I remember wtf it was.

re: Cannabis ship catches fire
Laudanum /'l??d?n?m/ is a tincture of opium containing approximately 10% powdered opium by weight (the equivalent of 1% morphine).[1]

It is reddish-brown in color and tastes extremely bitter. Laudanum contains almost all of the opium alkaloids, including morphine and codeine. A potent narcotic by virtue of its high morphine concentration, laudanum was historically used to treat a variety of ailments, but its principal use was as an analgesic and cough suppressant. Until the early 20th century, laudanum was sold without a prescription and was a constituent of many patent medicines. Today, laudanum is recognized as addictive and is strictly regulated and controlled throughout most of the world.

It's a mix of several different opiates including morphine. I've never seen it used and I've been an ER/Trauma nurse for awhile. We used to use ALOT of Demerol but we pretty much only use morphine and dilaudid IV/IM now.

It's SUPER PURPLE DRANK..... I guess they mixed it with some sort of sweet liquor or something since it was so bitter.

Had to..ain't an addict in the world that would have a hard on that big for a high that they'd be able to stomach that bitterness without it.

If there had been a 19th century OT, there would have been nightly laudanum threads.

It would have been unreadable, many unfinished sentences, and several posters electricuted after drooling on their keyboard.

So they were too stoned to set fire to the correct part of the ship??

Kind of proves the point of the anti-drug crowd.
