1/35 scale Rye Field Model depicting a vehicle of the 3rd Canadian division's 1st Mechanized Brigade "Lord Strathcona's Horse" circa 2007-2010 Kandahar Afghanistan with add on slat or bar armor to help defeat RPG's. All that's left is to dust it up with some weathering.

54. It's been a hobby of mine since I was a kid When I'm not working on helicopters I build plastic models.. it helps with my stress levels.

Very nice! Are the PE parts stock or aftermarket?

Very nice. It's interesting that their CITV sits between the TC hatch and the loader's hatch.
On our Abrams, it sits in front of the loader.

I'm 43 and do scale models as well. Usually WW2 armor and fighters. Anyone who thinks this is a hobby for children is a fool. It requires a level of patience, acquired skill, and time kids simply do not possess anymore.

Looks great man. Airbrush right?
Something that may make it look even more lifelike is to paint the caps of the smoke launchers black. But then again I don’t know what the kit said.

That looks awesome. Love these threads since I learn about a lot of equipment I have never heard of...

Nice work all around.

Did you use the required maple syrup in lieu of glue?

Combo of airbrush, rattle can and paint brush. The single page color call out showed them being painted the same color as the rest of the tank. But I might go back and change it. If I have one criticism of Rye Field Models it's they're weak with their color call outs/diagram. I had to do a lot of Internet research to get the pattern correct.
It is standard NATO 3 color camouflage.

Tamiya
I haven't done any modeling in about 15 years so well before Rye Field came out. How do they compare overall with Tamiya. I always really enjoyed building (most) Tamiya because you just put the glue in the box and shook it. I always seemed to fall in love with the old models from the lower-quality manufacturers and spent far too much time shaving flash and using so much putty I felt like a drywall installer.

It's a huge difference. Tamiya is an awesome brand and I love it, grew up on it. RFM is on another level. Their kits have huge parts counts, like 500+ can be overly fiddley and can test your skills and patience. If you're up to the challenge they usually come out fantastic and they have choices unavailable from Tamiya. There are so many new brands like AFV Club, Meng, Takom etc. that make fantastic stuff.

Also, Tamiya is most likely the standard but I’ve been really impressed with Mission Models acrylic colors.
Their bottles have a shaker bead in them.
More expensive than Tamiya.
Worth it.

Nice work. The older I get the more I appreciate how much work goes into creating these.
