Trucking lobby wont let it be automated

I proposed this as a solution for the Baton Rouge bridge. People said not do able.

Make them take the North Bridge and the traffic/wrecks will decrease. The "new bridge" is so steep, they have trouble getting up and breaking suddenly. Not to mention switching lanes I'm the 1/2 mile before it drops to one lane.

The latest fiery wreck was initially caused by a car wreck fyi.

So in the name of safety, we want thousands of 18 wheelers to now travel down a substandard non Interstate grade highway that passes through numerous small towns? We will also force all these 18 wheelers to exit I10 onto I49 coming from Lake Charles.

Anyone who is familiar with that east bound exit design would realize how dangerous this would be. The daily carnage would be staggering.

The FHWA and interstate commerce folks would like a word with you.

quote:

Interstate commerce is regulated by the federal government as authorized under Article I of the U.S. Constitution. The federal government can also regulate commerce within a state when it may impact interstate movement of goods and services and may strike down state actions which are barriers to such movement.
