Can someone explain the Katy Perry Left shark thing and why it is talked about?

I know it was in the super bowl performance, but why "LEFT SHARK"? What's the joke here?

Right Shark was very precise, danced very professionally like what you would see in a music video.

there was a shark on both sides of Perry.
the one on the right knew all the dance moves and made a pretty good effort to do them all even though they were in an outfit that had to be a pain in the arse to dance in.
the shark on the left looked drunk and DGAF about doing the moves.

The costume is pretty funny in itself. Combine that with the fact that the guy dancing in it was just some random m'fer who was fricking around on TV with millions of people watching and you have a funny joke to talk about with the millions of other people who saw it.

It's almost like there was a hit out on Katy Perry and Frank Drebin knocked out the guy that was supposed to be in the left shark and took over so that he could be close enough to protect her.
