Being in marketing for a Healthcare company there is an argument as what is considered a kickback for business.

Is taking a physician golfing(and paying for him/her) if business is discussed a kickback?

I am not an attorney, but I would not consider golfing or a meal to be a kickback as long as it is not unreasonably extravagant...your point really is to spend time to build a relationship and inform the physician. tangible gifts, trips, etc. would certainly be out of bounds as far as I am concerned.

There are rules and regulations that govern the amount that can be given legally. Check with whatever the appropriate discipline's regulations are

But to answer your question, your company should have an in-house legal department and you should ask them.

The rest of us are just going to blindly speculate and pontificate.

I'm going with the thought if investigated and its an obviously blatent purchase of business thru favors of anykind and there is enough proof. Ur fuked with large fines and possible JT. But to meet and greet and shake trees I would say No way it is.
