I have some questions for y'all. I'm currently in Ptec and will be finished in spring. I'm only 21 and don't have any plant experience but I do have maintenance experience working with offshore work boats. I've just recently started applying for trainee/intern positions, tested for Phillips66 last weekend and feel like I did pretty well.

What are the hours and pay like for interns?

How's the job market right now for operators?

What is your plant looking for right now? experience, degree or both?

What are the best companies to work for?

Any chance I could get hired before I'm finished or am I wasting my time?

What should I expect when/if a get an interview?

Expect to start a thread asking for advice prior to interview.

Expect to start a thread after interview giving a few details and asking how we think it went.

Since like 99% of the OT are SEALs we don't appreciate this misuse of "operators"

There is a few year long thread on indeed.com forums for process operators. Everything you want to know about companies, tests, pay, hiring process, current stuff is contained within that thread.

LINK

It's a long thread, but it helped me with the same questions over the last year.

Both, but there have been new hires with both, one, and neither.

Plenty of chance. The more you interview the better.

Great to hear that some of you young folk are still willing to go out and earn an honest wage. Plant work isn't easy or glamorous, but you will put food on the table and provide for your kin.
