To some degree, you're right. But it's a very over-simplistic approach. Flight 93 fought back, the plane didn't hit a target but instead a field in the middle of nowhere.
A (modern) terrorist will certainly take down a number of people if that is his or her goal. An armed populace and brave populace would certainly limit the number of folks he or her could try to bring along to the 72 virgins rally.

however, you may have missed the situation where a terrorist actually used a GUN at a restaurant in gay Paree. Should I have been there I would have much preferred being armed with my trusty .40 instead of a butter knife. I hate to say shite like this but Belgium needs a damn wake up call. They haven't been doing jack shite to stop these terror networks from proliferating. This Molenbeek place needs to be wiped off the face of the earth but instead Belgium has let it sit there and fester and spawn jihadis by the dozen.

I can assure you that if a Paris style attack happens near me I will not be hiding behind a table waiting for a haji to walk up and shoot me in the head. I practice with my pistol regularly and would have no trouble hitting a terrorist in the face with a hollow point.

While this may be true, and I would rather a fighting chance with a pistol in my hand...chances are, in that situation you will be scared shitless and would be shaking to the point of missing every shot...Best bet would to have a rifle slinging as much lead down range as possible.
