To answer the question, no, not as long as people keep driving like aggressive, entitled assholes though our city.
Slow the frick down, get off your god damn cell phones, pay attention, quit following so god damn close, and pull your heads out of your asses. These accidents are avoidable. They're almost always the result of some type of idiocy. I'd almost be in favor of speed cameras all the way through the city and a 50mph speed limit if it would help reduce the frequency of these accidents. We also need semis restricted to the right lane all the way through town.

it usually is, seeing how the drivers dont have anything else to stop and stare at

Here is what really pisses me off about this.
There are no lanes blocked I-10 Eastbound at South Acadian Thruway, yet the congestion from onlookers has reached West Baton Rouge and will probably touch LA 415 in a minute.
Stop slowing down to look at the fricking accident people. We have nearly 4 miles of congestion with nothing blocked at all.
The queue of onlookers is longer than the people stuck behind the accident.

All lanes are clear now, Traffic should return to normal soon barring any other jokers getting into a secondary in the next 15 minutes.

Negative bud. Have too many interstate interchanges for that.
Also, BR does not know how to merge into traffic at all - hence why I12 is always stacked up every morning.

I-10 is a joke. They won't widen because of homes and shite. They screw them selves by not planning for future growth

False.
BR is full of slow drivers who slam brakes for yellow lights, slow down approaching a green light, fall asleep at every red, stop and ogle every flat tire...its like no one has a destination.

This is totally true and more annoying than the original traffic itself. Literally an hour later I was heading back from addis and getting on the bridge. The wreck was an hour prior on 10 W and everybody on the eastbound side was backed up and going slower than the side of the interstate the actual wreck was ON. That was the very definition of a rubbernecking delay and I just don't understand how it got that bad, much less an entire hour later. And having literally drove past the wreck earlier, it wasn't some spectacle, just a red PR cruiser smashed into a truck in front if it.
Can someone explain why Simone rubbernecking can get that bad? rate of speed ?

There's a two car accident in the left lane of the bridge. No bueno

Widening the road can only do so much. Do you even latent demand bro? You're answer is better connectivity of the street grid. I understand the lane reductions near Washington, but if you provide more thru streets, the highways will be less congested. Look at a Map of New Orleans. There are a gazillion alternative routes. Everyone doesn't NEED huge highways to go from point a to b.

You people need to get onboard with the TigerstuckinMS War Against Traffic(tm).
Step 1: No guardrails.
Step 2: Upon reaching an accident scene, the cop puts a bullet behind each ear of the driver at fault. Getting them to work with us on this should be easy in this city.
Step 3: Put corpse in wrecked heap.
Step 4: No guardrails, so push wrecked heap off of road.
Step 5: Bad driving becomes a self-correcting problem.
