I've been eating takeout/fast food far too much when at the office. What do the healthier OTers do for lunch at work?

(More of a logistics and dieting question hence why I skipped the FDB)

Order healthier, bring your own food, get some of those pre packaged meals that people who workout love.

I tried it and it lasted about 4 weeks, I'd rather just eat out

I don't do fast food though, we do actual restaurants

Do you have a kitchen at your office? Keep sandwich meat and bread and make your own lunch. Its cheaper and healthier.

I've been making myself smoothies for breakfast which makes me less hungry for lunch. You gotta put some of that meal replacement powder in there though.

It's very hard for me to eat healthy at lunch. There are a lot of really good plate lunch places around my office and not many healthy options.

Very easy for me to bring my own lunch to work. At night my only option is hospital cafeteria and the food isn't that great.

I usually bring sandwiches, salads, or leftovers when I cook. Lean cuisines when I'm being really lazy.

Well I also only get 30 minutes for lunch and we can't leave the hospital property even if there was something else open late at night. So your only option is cafeteria or bring your lunch.

Typically one each of the following three. It's always a surprise because my wife makes them for me at the beginning of the week.

- Baked/grilled chicken
- Broccoli/snap peas/green beans
- Sweet potato/brown rice/couscous

If I'm back in less than an hour and a half it was a short lunch....but sometimes we drink a few beers and don't come back at all

I'm so used to eating fast at work that I always eat fast; drives my husband crazy when we go out to eat and I'm done way before he is.

If it's a workout day:

big tupperware containter with either brown rice or half a sweet potato, chicken strips, deli turkey, sliced roast beef, broccoli, cottage cheese, and a bit of mustard. Sometimes black beans in there as well.

If not:

All of the above except in salad form with baby spring mix (take out the rice/potato) and remove the black beans.

I bring my own lunch almost every day to the office and I can tell you it gets boring as f. However, as a trainer once told me, you should be "eating for life, not for love"

My usual food intake at the office is:

10:30 or so
String Cheese
Apple

Lunch:

6-8 oz chicken (breasts or thighs)
2 servings Broccoli
1 serving brown rice or quinoa

Mid afternoon snack (pre workout often)
Tuna/Chicken salad with light mayo
Whole wheat crackers

Then I eat Breakfast (egg whites, eggs, turkey sausage with a fruit) and dinner (6-8 oz of fish or another lean protein with 2 servings of veggies)

I am trying a turkey meatloaf tonight though, and if it is good (or prob even if bad) I will eat it for lunch tomorrow leftover
