is the nearest point to cross into Louisiana that isn't closed really I-20? that would be like a 7 hour detour if you were driving to Beaumont from Lake Charles.

Let's hear some easy options and best ways from Baton Rouge to Houston, outside of a boat or flying.

May not open again until Sunday if this projection holds true. Anything above 6ft is the highest it has ever been outside of storm surge associated with a hurricane, and even that only happened once. 6.13' is the record from 1913.

Either southern Cameron Parish or the Toledo Bend dam as far as I know. Everything between Lake Charles and the dam is underwater or washed out.

There's a thread about "talking" about the "possibility" of closing it...

This is the "official", "breaking news", "it's happening thread"!

Why was this an extreme alert? I have the severe alerts turned off on my phone, so I haven't gotten any in a while. Did that after Obama said something and it caused an alert.

Now I only have extreme weather and amber alerts on, so why was this extreme?

Google turned that shite up. I figured it was closed due to flooding but that sounded plausible.

Couldn't find a date on that piece.

The other bridges south of Toledo have been closed going into Texas since Saturday and I-10 was the only way in and out. Towns on both sides have been evacuated and Orange, TX may get even more flooded. There are also curfews and other towns not yet evacuated and more rain coming tomorrow and the rest of the week.

But what happened? An accident? Big arse fire near the road(That happened a few years ago around the Basin)?

The Sabine is what happened. shite is miles wider than it normally is. Toledo has all 9 gates opened to 10' and is flooding everything South of it. There's some drone footage some guy from Merryville took of Hwy 190 between LA and TX
