Christopher Brown said it felt like his lungs were closing in as he and about 40 other men struggled to breathe after a guard aimed pepper spray into a holding cell Saturday night at the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison.

quote:

Abigail Clingo, a 26-year-old New Orleanian arrested during a downtown protest Sunday, claimed she and a group of women detained in a holding cell were threatened with pepper spray when they tried to lift their spirits by singing together.

"They told us that was not tolerated," said Clingo, who was arrested after she refused to move as an armored vehicle pushed slowly pushed through a crowd.

Their group wasn't directly pepper sprayed, but residue of the pungent cloud wafted into their cell after a nearby incident, she said.

"All of a sudden, we were sneezing and coughing and had a burning sensation," she said. "So we tried to be careful and keep ourselves quiet because we didn't want that to happen to us."

I can't wait for Sid to breakout the video footage that shows these fricking idiots are liars.

These poor souls just can't decide if the cops on the street or the cops in the jail beat them up. Seeking a bullshite payday sounds stressful.

You're not in jail to lift your fricking spirits. I'd have pepper sprayed them too if the alternative was listening to a bunch of kids sing We Shall Overcome for 8 hours.

You KNOW you're on candid camera at the jail. It seems like this would be relatively easy to disprove.

This is what happens when you stir up shite, call out cops, and break the law. How the frick do think they're gonna treat you, after they've had rocks thrown at them, spit in their face, and ignorant people yelling in their face "frick the police". I would've made jail hell for all those frickers if I was a cop.

Having experienced this first hand in EBRPP central booking, it's 100% true and is absolutely miserable. It just takes one obnoxious moron for them to unload on the entire cell and that shite chokes out everyone within a 20 yard radius for a good 15-20 min

The only songs they should be allowed to sing is some good old chain gang work songs while busting rocks.

i wouldn't be surprised in the least. Louisiana prisons are overpopulated dumps guarded by people that will work just hard enough not to get fired.

Anything that has the potential to shine a light on government corruption is good in my book.

let's not forget how easy it was for prisoners to bring Budweiser, pills and weed into OPP a few years ago (probably still is) LINK

FWIW, you don't sneeze from pepper spray. It's like pouring crab boil in your eyes and nose and you can't stop coughing

Tell them to try sitting in jail for a week and a half having seizures because the doc won't give you your meds

Well thats why I'm not a cop. They should do things by the book, but its gotta be hard when you have thousands of idiots screaming frick the police in your face, throwing shite at you, and making your job as hard as possible. Especially when all the officers there are just trying to protect their city.
