Iirc it was Service merchandise that had the good toy section. Ninja turtles were a big deal and such.
natural wonders. And that store was full of really cool stuff, that was cool to play with in the store, but not actually buy.

I use to enjoy the electronics section as Service Merchandise
A whole aisle of Casio Keyboards. I would play the pre-made beats on every single one at the same time.
They also sold $1,000 CD/Tape/Radio towers

The Mall had it's Grand Opening on August 3, 1976 which was my dad's last day of being in his Forties.
Goudchaux's not to be confused (although it always was) with "Godchaux's" Department Store of NOLA.
This is a fancy place at Lakeside in Metry to (evidently) sell sugar cane.
Record Bar FTW, their prorated warranty on 8 Tracks. Keep them for a month or two and then bring them back in and get ~ 90% of the value in store credit.

AHHHHH The good ole days...........
Posted on 5/18/15 at 6:12 pm to Dinkle
Bing bing bing. Used to go to Chelsea's Thursday nights from time to time. This was back in 79 and early 80s. Big ole pile of nachos and 2 4 1 beers was a great deal. Just a place to get away from the close to campus bars. Had live music.
