So what you're saying is that Craigslist in the Morgan city area is about to have some great deals on slightly used yeti coolers and various watercraft?

Sweet!

The thing I don't understand is why is every other product still going up. Milk, eggs, bread and anything else you buy is still outrageously priced. Since oil is down these prices should come down as well.

I just don't think enough people have the mental capacity to understand the broad picture of how manyindustries/ people this is affecting.
Ask your buddies that were in business in the 80's in this shite hole of a state

Not trying to be a jerk, but it happens in all types of industries.A downturn in the steel industry got me once. I lost almost everything.

I had to leave my home area and get into some different types of work. That's how it is.I am better off for that now.

Let me tell ya, both my parents worked for Schlumberger. My dad retried before this fiasco, and my mom was laid off three months before retirement (they actually were very generous and gave her the three months of pay, and full retirement).

My dad (worked for SLB for 30 years) said he doesn't feel too bad about the whole thing. All these companies got greedy, hired unskilled workers, and coasted when the price went well above where it should have been. If the price wouldn't have skyrocketed in the first place, most of the people loosing their jobs never would have gotten it in the first place.

The generalizations in this and every similar thread about oil people tells you all you need to know about this audience

How many of the oil workers are really "rubbing it in your face" about how much they make?

Sure there are some, but that's everywhere.

The real question is, are people spending their disposable income saved from low gas prices and where is it going?

People in all works of life lose their job. If you have a six month emergency fund, you should be alright with the unemployment check.

If you work in an industry 35 years, lose your job, and have to move back in with your mother. That's your fault.
