Think about it.

A person calls some place and says "I put a bomb there"

In essence they are saying " I put a bomb where you are, so I intended to hurt a lot of people, but now I feel a bad about it and want to give you a warning. I want you to evacuate the entire building because I had a change of heart. I'm not going to come back and de activate the bomb, but I feel really bad and don't want anyone hurt"

I wonder if a bomb threat has actually resulted in a real, active bomb??

Thoughts?

Some are fake like you mentioned.

I think situations where people report suspicious packages or something is labeled a bomb threat.

Some guys get off on watching them try to find and diffuse his bomb?

A kid did this in middle school. Till this day (he's 29) he's still referred as the, looney-bomber). He got in pretty bad trouble over it. Got expelled out of the district.

Also I remember when I was a recruiter in Harrison Arkansas they'd have multiple threats each week at the schools. It got pretty bad and made national news. Here's the link

When your buddies are going to see the big hit movie before you so you call the threat for them to not see it without you.
