Is the launch open or closed? Big Johns? Is the Amite full of debris?

I wouldn't put my boat in the Amite unless absolutely necessary. It is full of debris.

which one of you were shooting across the bows of the cajun navy when they were trolling the Amite looking for flood victims?

My friend is a volunteer with WBR FD and said he had several St. Amant residents shooting at his boat while they were looking for victims. Says they were idling down the Amite and residents would scream "Waterway is CLOSED!" and then would fire shots across the bow of the boat.

Ponds were loaded with brim. Getting the ice chest back over the fence was the difficult part.

I cussed out multiple boats who were "idling" and pushing water into our house.

Then you obviously haven't been looking very hard.
It's been announced by the Parish President, WLF, and LPSO.

The river is closed. Normal level and no debris. I'm looking at it now and have been for days. I don't know of any shooting but if I owned one of the camps/houses that are about to fall into the river I'd be pretty pissed at passing boats.

Now you know the reason. The river washed away the back yards of some camps during the flood. The are dangerously close to falling in.

Seems like they could enforce an idle zone there and open up the rest. We can't even use the Diversion right now. BUT I don't know how bad the situation is. I have a boat on a lift and could be on the water in minutes. I don't need a landing. I don't need a ticket or being shot at though.

So for now I'll just enjoy something I haven't seen in years. Peace and tranquility on the river.

Thanks for the info.

I just called AP Homeland Security.

Waterways in Asension are closed to recreational boat traffic as of today although I was told that a decision may be made tomorrow to open the waterways.
