You might be thinking of Lil Dicky. I saw him in NOLA about two and a half months ago, and I mentioned that in the LD thread yesterday.

YES, that was it! My bad! You sure love these singing youtube comics huh?

LD isn't a youtube comic (or a "comedian" at all really). He's a legit (quote-unquote) rapper who is just funny sometimes.

Bo Burnham is a comedian who does songs.

If that makes sense.

I do also like Childish Gambino though, and he's a rapper, actor, writer, comedian, etc.

I thought "What." was incredibly clever and smart with how it delt with issues. At times it wasn't incredibly funny, but I kind of thought that was part of his experimenting with the comedy form. I think how he's performing comedy is incredibly fresh and interesting. I don't remember ever seeing anything really like it.

Yeah I agree with most of that for sure. The comedy almost seemed like it was experimental to a degree. And the songs were really good, just not as good as WWW I think. But "Sad," "Left Brain/Right Brain," "#Deep," "Repeat Stuff," etc. were still really good.

Dude is incredibly talented. He got his contract and first Comedy Central special at 18. I saw him at the Civic last October and wasn't disappointed.

The civic is a great venue! Saw Chris D'eila there 3 weeks ago (his last special was filmed there, fyi) and Mike Birbiglia back in March. I had something come up so I had to sell my H. Buress tix. I normally get box seats but couldn't order them from my cell today so I'm stuck in the balcony for the first time in forever.

NOLA isn't a stop on many comedy tours but this year has been one of the better ones. Took in Lewis Black at M. Jackson last month and Chapelle tonight. Thinking of pulling the trigger on Penn & Teller as well.

See ya 3/8!

"What" took a while to grow on me. But it did.
"From the perspective of God" is fricking brilliant.
How old is he now like 22 or so? He's more introspective and self aware than comics double his age. The left brain right brain bit is probably considered weird but gives u more insight to who he as a performer than some guy who tells dick jokes for 20 yrs. Art is dead as well. That song was so great. Helluva ride and repeat stuff on "what" is underrated.
He's a pretty good mix of his idols: carlin, minchin, and steve Martin.

I'm going. Can't wait.
