Best train trip from S. Louisiana with kids? Lake Chuck -NOLA?

Kids want to take a train ride with the OT Poors.
What trip??? If anything is worth wasting a day or two on a train from South La?

That sounds like a fun trip to NOLA.
My daughter and I took a trip from NOLA to Atlanta once and had a great experience aboard the Crescent. My advice is to get a sleeper car. Being in your own enclosed room is cool, and meals are included when you book a sleeper car.
I think everyone should take a train trip if for no other reason than the novelty of it. The Amtrak personnel are excellent at customer service, and it's a neat way to see the landscapes of America. You also meet some interesting people in the dining car.

Unfortunately, I'm pretty sure the beer is extra.
