I know personal connections and the lot are the best ways..

What are the better sites to look for work for something where you don't know people?

Indeed? Monster? CareerBuilder? Hireology?

Got to be some better options w/ less BS

I asked this same question on the MB.

Indeed seems to be consensus, apart from searching companies websites you would like to work for and searching their open jobs.

It's a time consuming task, for sure.

I used indeed when I moved, but ultimately I got my job through connections. I don't even know the people who got me the job, it was a friend of a friend of a friend type of deal.

I've used indeed but LinkedIn and glassdoor have pretty good features.

I just feel like I'm looking at yahoo in 1999 when I'm on Indeed. I'm looking for a career as well, not the $9 cashier jobs.

I don't know what your background is but are you talking BR,NO, or LC?

You have no interests in Houston?

good keyword searches are vital.

you're going to have to wade through a ton of bullshite, but it's an aggregate of other sites so it's a one stop.

If you have a decent resume I could give you some pointers on applying for jobs online. There is actually some method to the madness.

I've checked most of their websites for openings, but nothing that really matches my skills.

I'll stay in LA if I have to/can't get a job OOS.

Would prefer:

Atlanta
Houston
Austin
Dallas

among a few others, but I'd go anywhere I can get a good job.

For state government jobs there is an LA civil service website for job postings. Depending on what job you're looking for, though, you may need to take a civil service test first to be considered.

Indeed seems to be the best in-general job site out there.
