Hond

When I was 12, my dad bought a Honda. I used that thing like crazy for 3 summers cutting grass in the neighborhood.
He was able to use it for at total of 14 years.

re: Best push lawn mowers?
You're going to get a bunch of people touting their super expensive mowers because they sat up for 7 months and cranked up on the first pull. Really has nothing to do with what kind of motor they have. Has everything to do with the kind of gas they used and if they let the carb drain all the gas out before letting it sit for 7 months.
They really all cut the same no matter what deck or motor they have on them.

this is decent advice. At the least you could get some money by taking your broken mower to one of those mower fix it shops. If it's just not running they can get it back up and running and re sell it while you go and buy another one.
Another option is getting a small commercial walk behind.Their carburetor designs are far superior to throw away mowers and really don't have the clogged jet problem the cheaper units have. I have me a used commercial walk behind I bought off of craigslist for a hunned-fiddy dolla and it has a 16hp. Kawasaki commercial motor on it.

re: Best push lawn mowers?
My favorite mower ever was an Ariens walk behind with a Tecumsah engine. Lasted a good 10 yrs. Went to a cub cadet after that and it gave me about 5 yrs. From the OT recommendations last season, I purchased a Toro Time Master (?) 30" deck walk behind. Got it at Home Depot. So far, so good.

I'm thinking about getting a Lithium Ion powered mower. They have gotten under $400 for the good ones and are supposed to mow for about 50 minutes per charge now. This one has very good ratings. LINK Image: http://images.lowes.com/product/converted/841821/841821010003lg.jpg

re: Best push lawn mowers?
I don't think the problem is with them starting. Mine has some easy start feature that gets it going on the first or second pull

What is more important to me is the quality of the cut and the ability of the motor to spin the blades. I got 10yrs out of a cheap arse Yard Machines mower and traded in, running, for a flat boat.

My new Toro can barely cut my St Aug because it is so thick. It has a 6.5hp motor on it. In fact, I haven't ever had a push mower that could cut it well. Probably gonna try commercial walk-behind with a sulky this year.

Had to cut my grandparents yard with this growing up.

However, my current Honda has been a hand-me-down and is over 15 years old. I've only had one tune up for it. Only did that b/c I needed the blade sharpened and just decided to do it.
