Which one has the best reward system? I only fly a few times a year so airline miles aren't a huge priority.

I have spg, hotels are probably the only real bang for your buck. Their marginal cost to have you stay in an already empty room is very low, so you can actually get value > 1 percent of your spending.

In all seriousness, the Money Board has a extremely long thread about credit cards with the best rewards systems.

It is almost at 400 pages.

I did Discover for years. Got the 1%, plus they do bonuses of certain stores (Home improvement, hotels, etc) at times that pay 5%, but only on the first few hundred bucks of purchases, and you have to go online to sign up quarterly.

Switched to the Capital One Quicksilver Visa a couple years ago. 1.5% on everything. No limits, no fees, no bullshite. It's my main card now.

There are others that pay more, but often with an annual fee or a cap on the amount you earn. Like you, I don't care about airline miles. They try to find a way to screw you on them anyway, so give me cash.

That one sounds good. One slight ding is it looks like they charge a 3% foreign transaction fee, when most are getting away from those charges. Just use another card for travel.

I may apply for one.

Southwest Visa - Main card. I fly Southwest a lot.
Capital One Quicksilver - 1.5% cash back on everything, but I use it for big purchases usually, has highest limit.
American Express Blue Cash Preferred (5% on gas and groceries so I only use it for that)

I got it several months ago for the signup bonus but I doubt I'll keep it past the $95 annual renewal. My Chase Amazon card has 2% rewards with no fee.

Are these rewards paid out in credit on Amazon? I may look into this. I use Amazon for essentially everything non-perishable.
