I only stop in Jackson on the way to somewhere that isn't Jackson. Plus, there's a Whataburger.

Yeah they are trying to get more stuff in that Fairpark area around city hall. Mugshots just opened up there a few months ago. There's a few houses behind city hall but I think they need to build some apartments there.

Yeah, I don't have that luxury.

Where are you located?

5 Guys is pretty terrible, imo

Terrible for the price, sure. I've never had a "terrible" burger there. But I've also never paid less than $10 there either.

For the same price or just a couple (literally $2-$3) bucks more, you can get outstanding burghers at places like Company and Cowbell. 5 Guys is fine if I'm driving to the beach and need to stop for a quick bite on the way, but that's the limit of their appeal for me. Too many good options locally.

I have to say that some of the replies in this thread have been downright comical.

ETA: The laughable posts are the ones claiming 5 Guys, Smashburger, a fricking pizza place, pretty much all of Breesus's list outside of Cowbell are better than Company

Company Burger is the most overrated thing ever

I'd rather go to Cowbell, Luke, Superior Seafood, Beachcorner, Russells Marina Grill, Gs Pizza, Lakeview Harbor, Kozs, Dollys Deli, Port of Call, New Orleans Hamburger and Seafood, Cafe B, Cafe Navarre, High Hat, Pluckers, Bayou Hot Wings, Akasha, Phils Grill, should I keep going?

frick man. You're so edgy.

I don't know. They remind me of burgers you eat at a cookout and the chef doesn't know how to season a burger.

I went to the "Best burger in MS" Mugshots in Hattiesburg about a month ago. Biggest disappointment I've had at a restaurant in a long time. Absolutely everything about the burger was just average. I have no desire to ever go back.

I didn't mean your post was laughable, I should probably edit that in. I meant people saying places like 5 Guys or Smashburger are better than Company.

I'm in Memphis.

Aren't there like 5 or 6 random houses and an old cotton gin right there? That's the area I'm thinking of.

Did Vanellis ever open back up?

love that place.

We were there on a Saturday. My gf got the fried chicken dinner special for $14.99. RETARDED amount of really good food from the crab bisque/soup to the mac n cheese side and bread puddin. Had 3 big arse pieces of chicken and greens left for me to devour later that night when she wasn't looking.

I ate this here 86 the BBQ sauce.
If you want a damned good traditionally coooked burger with some crazy good ham on that bitch, DO THIS!
Digger Burger $11.99
with grilled “cure 81? Ham, smoked apple wood bacon strips, Swiss cheese, BBQ sauce, lettuce, tomato, sliced onion, pickles

Daily Specials

ETA: failed to mention my son got the chicken tenders. I could tell the breading was legit but was too full to eat a whole piece. Had a nibble. Even the tenders are way out of park and $6.99 for a big arse plate for a kid. Cheaper and better than Pluckers. I can't praise this place enough for value(Google app had like 4.8 stars and only $$. Dead on).

I went to the Mugshots in Jackson and my burger was pretty good. At least I don't remember being disappointed.

I had a similar experience at the one in Jackson. My bil and some other State people I know swear the original one is better. Don't plan on going to Starkville to find out.

I caught the second half of an LSU game over a burger at Mugshots(walk-ons Town Center now) couple years ago. Very pleased.

I also want to come here to tout the Twin Burger at Peaks.
I'm no foodie like LL but Peaks Chips n Salsa is my fave ever, and combined with that Burger and a big arse beer, it's one of my favorite bar/hangover/gameday meals around town.

Someone mentioned Akasha. If they prep their beef anywhere close to Phonecia in Zachary or denham, that is a LEGIT burger at a place you might not think to order one.

Another laughable answer for best burger. Yea, it's fine for nostalgia from my days at LSU, and it's not bad. But it is no where close to best in BR, let alone anywhere else.
