What a way to spend my morning. My car won’t start because the ignition is locked and won’t turn. Nothing I can fix. Well I called a tow through my insurance and 1st guy to come after a 2 hour wait didn’t have the right equipment to tow. Now waiting on the 2nd company to come out with wheel dollies to move the car.

1st world problems and before you say it CSB.

Unlock your steering wheel.

Did you turn your wheel both ways, then turn the key at the same time? I’ve had this happen in multiple vehicles and that’s how you fix it.

ETA: you’ll probably feel some pressure when you reach the point that’s stuck, shouldn’t have to turn the wheel much further than that.

At least you had plenty of time to put on nail polish.

I'm guessing you drive a GM product.

Similar experience with Mazda Roadside. They called a tow truck and gave us a 90 minute window. At 90 minutes we called the tow service and were told the service call had been canceled by the supervisor. No call to us or to Mazda.
Younger workforce does not care as much.

Can’t unlock the steering wheel. My car sometimes has issues when you change the battery. It’s a Fiat and apparently the new battery might cause you to have to reprogram the cars CPU to work again. Sucks.

Have you tried removing the panel under the steering wheel, pulling out the wires, cutting them in half and twisting together the blue and yellow wires?
