Beauregard Killer Pleads Guilty- gets life in exchange

Aramis Jackson shot and killed Alexandra Engler during a fatal 2010 home invasion at the 42-year-old single mother's Beauregard Town residence, but her then-9-year-old daughter who was shot multiple times in the attack and still managed to make a chilling 911 call to police is the one who asked that his life be spared, East Baton Rouge Parish District Attorney Hillar Moore III said Friday after Jackson pleaded guilty in exchange for a life prison term.
With 16-year-old Ariana Engler, her father and grandmother sitting in state District Judge Tony Marabella's courtroom, the 27-year-old Jackson, of Baton Rouge, pleaded guilty to the first-degree murder of Alexandra Engler and the attempted first-degree murder of Ariana Engler on Sept. 24, 2010, at their Beauregard Street home.
Moore said afterward at a news conference that Jackson, who he said has shown no remorse, was certainly deserving of the death penalty.
"What is ironic is that the person who has suffered the most in this case, Ariana, … is the one who requested that the state spare his life," he said. "I do not know if I could have made that same decision."

The judicial system also has blood on their hands too, IMO. I bet he did not spent more than 30 days total at Ryan Juvenile Detention Center.

Jackson, according to a psychologist's report filed in the case, was arrested for the first time at the age of 11 and had been arrested nine times by the time he was 17.

On life, reduced from death penalty..Should make them have to grow their own food. If they fail to, then they die of natural causes.
Save tax money.

The POs should have been killed outside the courtroom via public hanging before dark today.

Old news bud. Happened a few days ago I think. Dude should hang. But since the victim requested the sentence, I'm good with it.

Can he still get out later, or is this life without parole?

I don't think so. He is a stone cold killer. But when someone has 9 previous arrests from 11-17 and likely spent no meaningful time, if any, in juvenile detention, he going to learn pretty quickly there are no consequences for his actions. There is way too much of this. Teenagers with multiple arrests for serious crimes and most often given probation, or worse yet "do three good deeds"

I am all for giving teens on the stray resources to succeed in life. But they also need to learn that crimes have meaningful consequences (i.e.,meaningful jail time starting very early in their criminal career). I am pretty sure this guy did not graduate from stealing candy to murder in one swoop. And the PO's? They are a joke. Caseloads in the hundreds and hundreds.

Why are we just now getting around to hearing his plea?

I agree. Deterrence needs to start at an early age.

You think he was retarded or handicapped as he was reportedly claiming?

I bet they are all non violent drug offenses. The OT tells me all the time we shouldn't lock these people up.

There are too many people blind to the fact that sociopaths walk amongst us every day. I spent a career in the law enforcement world and there are some that just need to be removed from society. They have zero interest in conforming to societal norms and go from crime to crime with zero remorse. They then spend their various short confinements planning how to get better at their next crime. These people need to be identified and removed from society.

Never thought I'd be upvoting you my man, but here you go.
What a stone cold, evil dude. Hope he gets cornholed on the reg.

I worked a shooting where a juvenile tried to kill 5 other juveniles, but luckily he missed. Over a dozen witnesses other than the victims and the judge told him to read a book and write a book report within 9 months. Dropped the charge down to disturbing the peace.

Not MR/intellectually disabled. Maybe just slow, like in the mid to upper 70's. IMO
