And most of you trade in your truck after 4-5 years.

quote:

It deserves a mention that while Ben Welch’s 1994 Chevy Suburban still has its original engine block in place — along with the same timing belt installed on the U.S. assembly line nearly 30 years ago — the driver’s seat has been replaced twice.

Welch, who has been in Lincoln since 1962, the year the Huskers began selling out football games, isn’t a big man. He might pass for a punter or place kicker. Maybe. So the wear and tear on the driver’s seat had less to do with his girth than the simple truth that all things eventually wear out.

“He’s put a lot of miles on those seats,” says mechanic Randy Bloom, who has taken care of that blue Suburban from the start.

He’s spent over $200,000 on gasoline for that truck.

Surprised it wasn’t a Toyota. Knew it wasn’t a Ford.

You couldn’t drive 1 million miles in south Louisiana over 30 years without getting into an accident.

Surprised he hasn’t gone through 3-4 front ends from hitting wildlife at speed.

My dad had a 72 Dodge D100 that he did an engine swap in it twice. I remember right before I left for the Air Force, the odometer rolled over back to 0.

2017 Tacoma w/ almost 300K. Not even a warning light. I simply keep up with required maintenance. Probably need to add some freon next summer.

It doesn't have a timing belt.

Correct, "timing chain" for the win.

A timing belt is probably brand new. Never been used. Because some assembly guy must have stashed a Northstar V8 belt in the back.

I had a 2010 Ford F-150 that had 578,000 miles on it when I sold it in 2017.

All these twinks bashing on Fords. My family has had a utility construction business since the 60’s and we’ve driven them all. Fords are the only ones that hold up when they’re worked everyday, and that’s a fact. Chevy’s are shite, and dodge ain’t much better.

I knew a guy with a Chevy Lumina with the 3800 V6. He had about 600,000 miles on it when it was totaled.

He always said that the driver seat's in the GM cars had to be replaced every couple of hundred thousand miles.
