You must've been hauling arse that one time on 308 to make it in 1:19.
I'm born and raised in Houma, went to LSU and still live in BR...so I've made the trip more times that I can count. I've never taken the Spur 70/308 route and made it quicker than 1:30. The one or two times I made in 1:30, it was early morning. I don't drive more than 5 or 10 over the speed limit though...usualy try to cruise 60/65 on those back roads and highways.
The Gramercy/Vacherie route has been consistently quicker for me for over a year now. The only things that'll hold you up going through Gramercy/Vacherie are slow drivers and Thibodaux traffic.

Keep in mind right now is cane season and there are many cane trucks on the road. You get behind a cane teuck on 308 you might not be able to pass for a while.
If I was going to the east side of Houma I would go Gramercy Bridge to 3127 to 310 to 90
West side of Houma id go Gramercy Bridge to 3127 to LA 20 through Thib into Houma on Main

sunshine bridge... 308...right at da main project ...at ellendale in 1:05 minutes everytime amd that was with cane trucks on turkey day last week
