I had one and didn't pay. F them for not following due process.

Got a few letters and then a few voicemails on a land line (that I had at the time) over about 3-6 months.

Ignored them all and eventually they went away.

Even if they managed to ding your credit you can dispute and ask them to validate the debt (they can't) and it will be stricken.

New Orleans is a different story.

Let them send mail, leave voice messages, etc., never sign for any receipts unless you know the content of said packages ahead of arrival. The lack of any contact means they have very limited info to base any further actions against you. Think any company or individual is gonna spend thousands on an attorney to sue you based on old info when they are already in the hole on current debt owed by you? Not hardly.

What you slapdicks are confusing is that, in the end, this is not a private company collecting a debt, it's a government agency that wants its money for a civil violation.

Once the Republicans in the Louisiana legislature see how much money is being left on the table, they will give the unpaid debt more teeth, no different than not paying a speeding ticket, and issue warrants for arrest, disallow vehicle registration and boot your cars.

Can't wait.
