Bangkok, Thailand - HGG's trip review

This place was pretty amazing. It is everything you've seen in movies...and more. You will want to stay along Sukhumvit Road, that is right where all the action is....literally.
Have fun with the exchange rate, it feels like you have alot more money than do actually so.
I stayed a Dream Hotel, 2 blocks off the main drag. I walked up and got a nightly rate of $88 USD, pretty damn good for a hotel like this.
It was right next to this friendly joint.
At nighttime along Sukhumvit Road, they block off the street from cars (except to let these guys through to setup). Each van has their own lights, bar, and music...it's pretty damn awesome. They bring tables and chairs and everyone just chills out.
YOu can ride in their tuk-tuks, but your head will hit the roof....the Thai folks are generally short.
I ate as much street food as possible, and only got sick once. You could get a bowl of spicy basil beef with rice and a bottled water for $2 USD.
A visit to the Chatuchak Weekend Market on a Saturday is a must. You can buy ANYTHING there, including wild animals like monkeys and cheetah pups. It was F*** crazy. The military walks around and provides "security" for free food and drinks, among other things I am sure.
You can get ringside seats for Muay Thai kickboxing and 5 beer tokens for $50, and also a pic with the winner of the main event. The young kids go first and don't fight as much as I thought they would. But the older kids and young adults got after it, shite was awesome and action-packed. Lots of yelling and screaming from the wagering crowd. There are 2 places to go watch, I chose the local place....wise decision.
You can go to 1 of the many "ports" and rent a boat, with a driver, just you...for $50 USD. They will ferry you around the river and drop you off at various temples. You will be given a time to be back (20 min usually) and they will leave your arse there if you are late.

Trip photo journals are one of the best thing this board does. People should do them more often.
Honestly, I'd probably stop working to read one from a trip to Houston, doesn't matter.
