ATT Universe vs COX Cable

I have cox, thinking about switching to ATT. For those that have done that, was it a good move? Any pitfalls I should watch out for? What features do you like better with ATT then cox? And how is the cost difference?

I pay less for more DVR boxes (4) and more channels with ATT. Cox was easier to use and the tech support was a LOT better. My internet is blazing fast and I have every channel.

I've noticed AT&T is doing utility installation all up and down Essen lane. I'm guessing that they are installing the fiber for Uverse.

I live off Perkins and can't wait until it finally makes it to my house.

My Uverse froze up constantly when I first got it. ATT did not want to send anybody to fix it but did reluctantly. Worked great for a few days then same freezing issues. Another two times of workers coming out it works pretty well. It still freezes up once every 2 to 3 weeks.

I stayed because the picture quality is way better than I originally had (when working) and I have all channels for cheaper than I had basic for with another company.

I had that same problem. I got them to upgrade my local gateway and have had little to no issues since then.

By the way, to the OP, if you do go U-verse, try and get the wireless TV boxes in your signup deal. They are relatively new and basically you don't have to use your cable jacks anymore to determine where your TV's are placed.

Only downfall is no CST.

Outside of that, I had one problem with it locking up at the same time every day. Tech came out, saw something in the box that shouldn't have been there, ripped it out and I haven't had an issue since.

Another thing. I HATE the remotes. I constantly have to turn the box off/on to get the signal back to the tv. Anyone else have this problem?

re: ATT Universe vs COX Cable
I made the switch as soon as Uverse came to my neighborhood. That was a mistake, had tons of issues at first while they worked out the issues in my home and neighborhood. After about 4 months of service calls and dealing with their horrible customer service I got everything working correctly. It has been around a year since then and everything is still stellar and I am super happy with it. Cox cannot hold a candle to the product that Uverse has. As far as price, I currently have everything and pay just a few bucks more than I did with just digital cable, phone, and internet with cox(No movie channels). I did have to call them and get the "Loyalty Discount" once my initial promo ran out. It isn't close to the initial promo, but keeps the price competitive with cox.

I have a harmony remote, so never really used the other remote.

When you say you have to turn the box off, you mean the uverse box? do you have to unplug the box, or press the power button on the box itself?

I think I have a similar problem to the one you have, however instead of turning the box off/on I just hit the exit button a few times and it seems to solve the issue.

Uverse 9.3 out of 10

Cox 7.8 out of 10

Uverse is the cat's ass

I have to turn off the box and press "OK" again. It's like the box doesn't get the signal after a while and it needs to be refreshed.

UVerse is terrible with this. Half the time I have to turn my box off and back on in order to get to my DVR recordings. The signal sends to the box from my remote (I know because the light on the box flashes), but the menu doesn't pop up. If it does, it's like 1 minute later. I think I have a bad box, though. Cox is more expensive generally, but I did find their internet was a little faster for the money, while AT&T's is less dodgy. They have their ups and downs. Can't say I hate U-Verse though.

Completely different issue than what I was experiencing. My remotes just stop working at times, channel up/down and guide. I just hit the exit button a few times and it comes back.

I had that problem for a while, but only because I was going through and HDMI switch. Once I took it off the switch, it worked fine. (Have it connected to my receiver now, which seems to be a better switch the thing I was using)

This is the main reason why I haven't switched yet. But with ESPN3 and justintv, that may fill the foid of not having CST.

I also have that issue. I generally just wait for it to finally register, or do the exit button thing again. I am not sure what to do to fix this, but it is annoying as hell.
