So according to your religion, anyone who does not believe in your god means that they are unable to believe that a creator is possible?

Look, I hope with all my heart that there is a creator and an afterlife, but that doesn't meen there is one.

How fricking dense are you. Can you really not comprehend what I am saying?

We need to run an experiment. I volunteer to spend a night with S.E. Cupp and find the answer.

I comprehend what you're saying. But you're asking in terms of biblical scripture, and any other creator would be defined as a false god. There is no distinction in Christian religion between atheism and agnosticism. You're simply either a believer or a heathen.

If you don't believe in a religious deity you can believe in any possibility, or believe in nothing.

I wasn't asking in terms of biblical scripture. You're the one that brought it up. By the way, could there possibly be a more condescending and narcassistic term than "false god"?

What makes your beliefs more accurate than Buddhists or any other religion? Let me guess, the bible said so?

Thats funny that you mentioned that, narcissism is the unwritten guide to life for the atheist or agnostic. At least from my observation.

The bible, I don't know, it seems pretty fortelling in it's explanation of events that are historically documented, and of modern occurrences that we see today. Also the Dead Sea Scrolls.

As a Christian theist, I agree with this. If you're relying solely on scientific proof and hard evidence, the only intellectually honest position you can maintain is agnosticism.

Thats because the atheists/agnostics you see are narcissists, the same way Joel Osteen or Creflo Dollar are. Most atheists/agnostics just want to live their lives and not discuss religion or atheism with anyone.

As with most folks, it seems as though you don't really understand what atheism means. atheism is NOT the abject rejection of deities, merely a stance that one does not believe based on evidence available. It's a counter punch to an affirmative claim. It's a reaction that would be wholly unnecessary in a world where no one claimed gods existed.

You know the RADICAL high profile atheists that the religious get all bent out of shape about? None of them claim that there is absolutely no chance there is a god or gods. The only folks who DO claim that tend to be idiots who are either religious and use that argument to tar all atheists, or young strident non-believers who, maybe like you, hadn't really thought the position through enough before settling in it. Almost NO ONE falls into category 7 and suggesting that's the only position that defines atheists is just flat out wrong.

Frankly...your world view seems to only include 1, 4 and 7...since, of course, you call yourself a 4. I'd suggest, like Dawkins, we're actually talking much more about a world with grays. If your view was correct and there were only three hard line positions, I'd agree with you. Anyone that falls in 1 or 7 is either lying or being intellectually dishonest. Want to guess which side wins in terms of numbers who fall there...?

As for agnosticism in general, I tend to think that's a co-op out in reality. For me anyway, pure agnosticism suggests a 50-/50 chance of either thing. I don;t think our reality comes close to suggesting there's a 50% chance there is either a deistic creator let alone a specific personal god as suggested by the various monotheistic religions. Saying one is agnostic is one of the best examples of fence sitting there is without really bothering to think through the arguments on either side.

so Adam and Eve were the first humans alive? Noahs ark was a real thing?

It doesn't make me an athiest or a narcasist to see that the bible is not ment to be taken litteraly

That's true, but you have to at least read scripture enough to understand the meaning, before you arbitrary just discount it as false. The bible is supposed to be a guide to life.

I don't know what you want to do about your dilemma.

So you admit that it is metaphorical, yet stand by your basis that it is documented history? Which one is it?

quote:

The bible is supposed to be a guide to life
I have my own moral compass, I don't need scripture to have empathy or compassion for others. Have you ever thought that maybe the Bible is a bunch of people attempting to put words in Gods mouth? Projecting their own beliefs in the name of God is a good way to get people to beleive them.

What dilemma do you speak of?

Your dilemma, it's why you're here right? You're searching for something, because you're life is empty. Looking for meaning, purpose.

Nevermind about the history part, you missed what I was getting at, when I mentioned the reading part.

Where did your moral compass come from? How would you define good and evil, and the origins?
