You said let them take a bath solo.

I think the weirdos in this thread are the "at no age is it appropriate" folks. They're obviously the ones who view the interaction in a sexual way. Considering that, it's probably best if they never shower with their children at any age. But don't assume everyone is as disturbed as you.

Why would you torture that poor dog like that?

My son would hop in the shower with his dad until he was prob 4? Saved time when we were all getting ready to go somewhere. He NEVER showered with me. My daughter (4) has never showered with me or her dad. Never will. We both oversee her bath, depending on who is available. Stopped checking in on my son while he was showering alone at about 7. If he has some "man problem", my husband deals with it. I suppose. I don't ask.

I still don't see the point. Doesn't seem very productive

Nail - Head

People turn things into sexual experiences, not the kids getting bathed. Sick people in this thread.

But I fall on the side of, no harm, no foul.

I disagree, and I think most people in this thread, and most medical and mental health professionals do as well. There is an age where it is inappropriate for parents and children to shower together. And that doesn't make everyone else besides you prudes, despite what you believe.

Yes solo as in the parent not with them in the bath or shower but supervising and assisting. And to each his own, this is just my opinion.

I honestly don't give a flip if you bathe or shower with your kid.. I won't be paying for his or her therapy.

Why would this happen? You really believe that a 1 year old showering with their mom or dad will cause them mental health issues?

And to clarify I'm just saying it really doesn't seem productive to shower with your kid. Not saying it's wrong. And as someone pointed out, maybe it's different if you're same sex. Still don't see the point though

Ok, but some people really believe that. I agree with a few people here. Festus made a good point that at some age, it does become inappropriate. I also agree with another poster that if you child is uncomfortable with it, it is most definitely inappropriate.

Yup. I guess the same people feel like molesters every time they change their kids diaper... Because that is WAY more up close and personal than a shower.

I am SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO glad my daughter is finally potty trained. Those were the worst

I'm more talking about the general prudishness towards nudity in some segments of society...I.e the people who would turn kids skinny dipping into sex offenders

I had a female friend, who, if pressed for time, would get her son and daughter (maybe age 7 or 8 and 5) and they would all take a shower together. Sometimes it was just the kids together in the shower.

It helped keep the kids from piddling around and got them both clean at the same time.

I see nothing wrong with it occasionally if the kids are young. If they're pushing puberty, then that's a different story.

Probably 7 or so unless either the child or parent feels uncomfortable with it before then.
