I haven't looked forward to really tying one on in a while, because it takes me 2 days to recover.

I would say the drinking fun & pain lines cross around the age of 39.

just have to power through that, don't stop drinking and you won't get hangovers

I only drink 5-6x per year due to this. I get hangover from 2 beers literally. So if I'm going to be hung for two days I get my money's worth on a powerful night out.

'Rebound anxiety' I believe it's called. It's tough for me too.

Yup. That shite is why I stopped drinking. Just not worth it.

Serotonin is the chemical neurotransmitter in your brain which makes you feel at ease.

For folks who have low serotonin, getting drunk depletes the serotonin stores on the 'good feelings' associated with being drunk. When you sober up, there is not enough serotonin left.

It takes a couple of day for these neurotransmitters to build back up. Until they build back up, you feel like you're watching your team attempt a potential game-winning field goal with 1 second left in the championship game...and you feel like this constantly.

mid 20s

But for me it's not really that I'm in agony, it's that I usually have shite to do and it makes it harder to get stuff done.

But then, I don't get blackout drunk much anymore either.

Interesting. I think I get what other people are talking about, but I figured it was just a combo of feeling crappy/tired and some latent guilt about being an adult who still occasionally drinks like a 20 year old.

You probably wouldn't be aware of it unless you had at least mild anxiety issues.

I got smashed during the Bama/USC game and the anxiety crash started in on me around midnight. To make matters worse, my wife and daughter had gone away for the weekend and I was alone with my 2 YO son...he was up crying at 2:00 and I thought I would have to jump out of the window.
