Anyone else lose their desire for coasters as they ages??

Me somewhat. I’ve lost the desire to ride coasters outside that go up real high. My fear of heights has definitely intensified as I’ve aged.

I rode Rock’n’Rollercoaster last summer at Disney, and it was awesome.

The thought of riding the Lightning Rod makes me want to curl into the fetal position.

Is that coaster one of the scarier ones here? Maybe I can handle the other ones a bit easier if Lightning Rod is that scary. Maybe it bothered me that much for a reason.

VelociCoaster is the shite though

I love coasters.

Velocacoaster is the best coaster I have ever ridding anywhere in the world.

I would buy an annual pass just to drive down and ride it 5 times a year.

Amazing.

I’m a good skier for a Southern Boy. Have lived part time in Montana for nearly 20 years. Been skiing our local hill here nearly every season, including last season. For some reason this season I developed “ski sickness.” Not altitude. It’s under 9000 ft here and I’ve never had altitude sickness. Came out of nowhere at age 49.

Getting old sucks. (Although the ancient main chair lift could make anyone sick when you first get in. Dipping over the retention pond. Some hangover days in my younger days were no bueno. )

That said, I read that it helps to eat carbs before skiing. So I made a bunch of sourdough French Toast, and it did the trick.

Cool old balls story bro.

On-topic: We loved Dollywood a couple years ago with our little boys. Hadn’t been since just after it changed from Silver Dollar City. I was pleasantly surprised. But I hate roller coasters and hate lines ever more, so it was just little kids stuff. And the mountain music was fun. We didn’t go into Gatlinburg or Pigeon Forge. Seemed like a permanently docked cruise, passing through.

The new one Big Bear Mountain is fantastic.

I was so shook from Lightning Rod, I didn't even ride Big Bear. It did look fun and a little less crazy and scary.

That’s the best coaster at Dollywood and was pretty tame. Sad that you are officially old now. That Eagle coaster isn’t bad, looks worse than it is going off memory.

You definitely couldn’t handle that new raptor coaster at universal.

Veloci coaster, the guardians of the galaxy coaster and time traveler at silver dollar city are the three best I have been on. The lighting rod and hulk at universal are also up there.,

Believe it or not, SeaWorld has great roller coasters.

Space Mountain The Hulk Both fall into this category

Space mountain is almost unrideable if you are old. The Hulk was redone a couple years ago and I find it’s very smooth. Disney really needs to redo space mountain completely and modernize it.

Always LOVED roller coasters and diving into the Gs.

But some of them are quite violent in the way they throw you around laterally and all around, you almost don’t notice the side to side as much but it hits.

Sorry, I don't really know the area at all. We're going to ride around some tomorrow and good off.

This Embassy Suites is really nice though.

Yes! We are going to Orlando this summer, and we’re uniting SeaWorld and Busch Gardens, 16 coasters between the two.

One of the other things about the coasters today was every ride was a 45-60 minute line. That's a lot of standing around.

Haven't ridden any roller coasters in several years, but I used to love them, and Dollywood had some good ones. I have some back issues and it wouldn't be a good idea now. But heights never bothered me until I was on the roof cleaning gutters in my 40s. That part of the roof was pretty flat and about three stories off the ground. I had been up there many times, but for some reason, I couldn't deal with it. Felt like some force was trying to pull me over the edge. I laid on my stomach to clean the gutters, then got back on the ground as fast as I could. Been that way ever since.

We go often to Dollywood. My 6 year old loves Lightning Rod. She hasn’t rode a ride yet that scares her. That makes me feel like I have to. No way I’m going to let my 6 year old be braver than me.

I’m 40 now and enjoy them now more than I did when I was younger. I think it’s more about the kids having so much fun riding them so I makes me enjoy them more. It does seem like I get motion sick a little easier now than I use to though.

The resurfaced the scream machine (the wooden coaster you are talking about) and it is now much much smoother than before.

The funny thing about wooden coasters.. they are the exact same as they have always been but since steel coasters came into play many years ago, people just assume the wooden coasters are horrible. They are the same they have ever been.. we’ve all just turned into a bunch of pussies as a society
