Is Westwego less than 5 minutes from the city? Old Arabi was awesome back in the day and this revitalization is well deserved. I hope it works out.

The hipsters decided to skip over the 9th Ward and start gentrifying St. Bernard instead. Da Parish has inexpensive housing.

I could see Arabi being the next little hipster enclave.
They have pretty much complete the streetcar to Elysian. Once they figure out the Press St train track situation I imagine they going to stretch the streetcar over into the bywater.
FQ/Treme > Marigny/St Roch > Bywater/St Claude > Holy Cross/Arabi..... Pretty easy progression to follow

Screw all that art bullshite and go get hammered at Pirogues Whiskey Bayou. Weed and wax encouraged out back.
Saw Lighting Guitar Lee there Saturday and it was a good time.
The only thing that will slow down growth over there is the fact that St Bernard is a god damn police state, there are four deputies per parish resident.

Plaid shirts and neckbeards will be overrunning the place with the quickness.

I guess either you haven't been to the area or don't realize that the 7th and 8th wards barely consist of any of the area below St Claude from Esplanade all the way to Poland Ave. Almost all 9th ward.

You also have Jackson Barracks as a buffer from the river past Claiborne....

Da Parish is as crooked as a snake going up stairs.
The collisions of hipsters and the St. Bernard "the fix is in" world will be interesting theater.

Oh no, you can see them walking their pitt bulls every morning and evening on the levee.
