I thought this was common knowledge.

I'm not dumb enough to even ask the question.

They are definitely worse at parking. They also seem to know (or care?) less about driving etiquette and general rules of turning, passing, etc.

But they somehow statistically wreck less frequently than men.

So IDK, man.

guy i know teaches "performance" driving on a track in texas. says the easiest people to teach are prepubescent girls age 8-11 or so. said they listen and learn quickly when adults are more set in their ways/bad habits.

but as far as adults, yes. absolutely and definitively yes.

Not obvious enough for insurance rates to favor men, apparently.

No. I've seen many terrible drivers of both genders. Guys are usually way more aggressive.

Men and women have different things they are more apt to handle, generally.

Women can carry on a conversation with you on the phone, 3 others on text, someone sitting in front of them, while feeding a baby. They can't do it efficiently, but they can do it. If they frick up, no big deal. This allows women to be the ultimate home makers juggling many tasks at once.

Men tend to be able to focus on one task at a high level without letting themselves get distracted. Multi tasking is a problem, so they block out other stimuli and focus on the one thing at a time. They are also more likely to make split second decisions accurately and have better hand-eye coordination. Historically and genetically, this was important because men hunted and fought while women nurtured children, prepared food and gathered / scavenged.

In a car, focusing on the one thing is pretty damn important, but modern cars are so comfortable and "safe" that it is easy to be distracted and frick up when you try to do too many other things other than driving. Thus women, being predisposed to attempting to multi task, screw up more resulting in more trouble on the road.

So purely based on what men and women are genetically pre disposed to be good at, men are the superior driver. Not to say there aren't exceptions to these averages, but by and large if you get a group of 500 men and 500 women drivers, the men will be "better" at damn near any measurable you can put out as a marker for success.

ETA: Here come the down votes. God forbid you point out that men and women are generally not 100% exactly the same at every task known to man.

BEING DIFFERENT IS NOT A BAD THING YOU DULLARDS. That's what makes men and women good teams.

I don't know. My wife always points out mistakes that I make while driving but my wife doesn't make mistakes so I keep my mouth shut.

It's hard to prove with statistics because men drive more than women and are more likely to engage in risky behavior.

They are far worse at driving. We however, allow ourselves to succumb to "road rage" and the "need for speed" far more often. Hence the higher rate of wrecks.

So are you saying men are too emotional to be statistically better drivers?

These days you can just claim whichever gender gets you a lower rate.
