pretty sure you can still get a base model dodge ram for not that much these days...and that truck will be a lot better/nicer than the medium-level trucks 15+ years ago

Base price of a 1996 GMC 1500 was 21k, base price of a 2016 GMC 1500 29k, so in twenty years its gone up 8k.

Base engine was a 220hp @14mpg, current is 285 hp @ 18mpg,

besides all the other tech and mechanical upgrades from then to now...

It's not about the overall price it's about what your 'payment' is.

Also, the same bass boat I bought 10 years ago for $35,000 lists for around $75,000 now. They'll charge a much as a redneck is willing to pay.

Case in point:

2106 GMC Sierra
2500 4x4 diesel

MSRP: $64,300

Where were pickup truck prices 15-20 years ago in relation to other vehicles on the market?

Are we only a few years away from them costing over 80k?

sticker on my 2011 Lariat that I bought new was $44k and the sticker on my 2016 XLT I just bought with vinyl flooring was 55k, the lariat like my old one was 60 to 65k.

This isn't a bubble, this is regulations working their magic and trying to load up a bunch of shite that you don't need on trucks because a generation of sissy fricking boys need a bunch of assistance backing a trailer and parking. Why do I need a fricking camera that gives me a 360 view of my truck?

If you can truly pay 50k for a vehicle, money shouldn't really be an issue in your life.

People who finance or lease cars they can't afford are stupid but they do it anyway hence why prices are so high

I saved my money for 6 months and bought a 2005 Audi TT Quattro roadster for 12 grand. No monthly payment or anything like that. I don't have to have the newest or shinyest. It's just a car.

so when tulip prices faced an adjusted market price due to really high demand, that wasn't a bubble?

"An economic bubble or asset bubble (sometimes also referred to as a speculative bubble, a market bubble, a price bubble, a financial bubble, a speculative mania, or a balloon) is trade in an asset at a price or price range that strongly deviates from the corresponding asset's intrinsic value."

Even though they start with a T, tulips and trucks are different in every other way. Just because trucks are marked up does not mean the value isn't there (it is). Every truck isn't $60k, there are still new trucks with less animities that are very much affordable. "Bubble" seems to be the new trend word.

You don't know the people you see driving those things financial situation, you are just passing a broad generalization and projecting your values onto theirs.

Again, projecting, because I'm sure you don't have nothing that appears wealthy. Half the population doesn't even know what a truck costs, and you don't know what the next man paid for his truck unless you ask.

For reference, the last Suburban I bought was a 2004. Sticker was low 40's if I recall. Now that same vehicle is mid 60's.

Prices have jumped just in the past 6 or so years it seems. I remember trick shopping in 2007 and I could still get a basic V8 F150 extended cab with power windows/locks for low $20k. Now they seem to start above $30k. It's crazy to pay $40k+ for a truck but 6 year loans allow people to do it.

Absurd. They'll be 80k by 2025.
