Friend of mine just needs new doors and frames and new windows put in his home so he can properly humidify it and even my friends that are contractors can't get to him in 6-8 weeks. Places like Window World and Relief Windows are booked up for months as well.
What can he do?

he has over $75,000 worth of damage to his home and lives in Denham Springs. Repairs require a permit and following inspection. Permit for those kinds of repairs will only be given to a licensed contractor.

If I was capable of doing the work and legitimately couldn't get a contractor, I think I would have to go with the screw the permits route and do it. Not going to let my house sit open for two months because the Parish says so.

i think that's for a contractor to do everything. I'm hoping he could find someone to put in new windows and doors so he can dry his home out.House took 7' of water and is located off 4-H club rd. in Denham.

Id double check this. He should be able to have the doors and windows installed by any contractor worth a shite. The permit will be needed for the electrical work since his service went under water. This will have to be done by a licensed contractor.
Now that Im thinking about it, this might not be any help if hes trying to dry out the house.

Doors and windows are scary for someone who has never done them, but it really is an easy job. Buy the correct size windows and doors. Put them in the frame, shim them tight and hammer them in. Then, place up the frame work. There are lots of youtube videos on this.

Also, most contractors will be willing to inspect the work and sign off that they performed it if its done correctly provided that you hire them for the other work.

I will check with my SIL to see if he can help you out. I know he is tied up, but something like that, his crew could knock out in a day.

Oh, were at? That would help.

appreciate it. What worries me is the backlog of actually producing the windows. I'm sure window places are having to make new windows at this point.

Could he just nail up plywood or some plastic?

Is the home brick?

Has all the window frames ripped out?

You right, it's going to be a bitch to get doors and windows anytime soon. I did text SIL and I will let you know when he text back.

Oh, he really needs a electrician and AC person ASAP. That way he can start running fans and once the house is closed up, he can run the AC.

thinking of putting up plastic with duct tape on windows. Not sure what to do with the doors as they're ruined and won't close.
We've been running fans on a generator every day. Home is brick

He could frame out the doorways with 2x4's and plywood. If the windows are still in place, they can be changed before he starts to rebuild.

Now if he just needs someone to come in and do what I'm saying, I could come and help him do that.

appreciate the offer man. Awful nice of you. We're going to get to work trying to seal off the house and if he needs anymore help than that i'll holler at you.

No problem.

Just pop off the doors, leave the frames in place. Frame 2x4's to the doors frames. Take a sheet of 1/2" plywood, cut to size over lapping the doorway. Install some hinges to one side. Extra 2x4 blocking on the other and add a screw in eye bolt. Make a hole thru the plywood that the eyebolt can pass thru. He can then add a lock.
