Today is my birthday and I’ve been telling people for years that every year there seems to be a tragedy around my bday. As an adult I can remember many like Columbine, OK City Shooting, Waco, Virginia Tech shooting, Boston Marathon and this week we have the fed ex shooting and the capsized boat in the Gulf. Ironically the same week the Titanic sank. So I was looking it up and found out that it’s not just me imagining bad shite always around my bday.

A week filled with American tragedies

Americans this week are remembering the anniversaries of the plant explosion in West, Texas (top left), and the bombing of the Boston Marathon (bottom right). However, the span of April 14-20 is one that has been filled with tragedies for Americans throughout history. See these other horrific events that happened during this infamous seven-day span in America.

It's no wonder tax day is right smack in the middle of your time frame.

I love how you don’t consider Abe Lincoln’s death worthy of mention

Dull roots with spring rain

Right.... my daddy was self employed and always had a big tax bill due the day before my bday.

Ha... thanks but the reason I mention it is because it just always seemed like a terrible event happened around my bday. I probably wouldn’t have ever looked it up if not for being my bday week and never realized that it is actually historically the most tragedy filled week of the year.

You’re not the only one. My bday was this week as well. Been saying this for years.

Don’t forget OK City Bombing. That was 4/19

I thought I did mention it but yes that as well. I was surprised to learn that historically more tragedies have occurred during this week.
