I have a few original paintings by an artist that were given to me a few years ago when some family remodeled a beach house. I don't really care for them that much and after looking at the artists personal site, the original artwork sells for a pretty decent amount. Anyone know where I can get an estimate on how much they could sell for or any place that will buy them? The artist is Rhea Gary

There's absolutely no way to give a price not knowing what the op has. But some are listed over 7k that I've seen.

It's a 30x40 landscape painting. Similar sized and styles on the site go for 7 grand or more

That may be through a gallery. Through a gallery you can expect a 50% mark up. That means you could probably move them for about half that, if they are comparable pieces.

I understand that, but I sent it to get appraised so I'll find out. I would be more than happy to trade a painting I don't like for 4 grand

Rhea is a she. Lived on the lakes. Just moved to Birmingham. May be worth more in BR since so many people know her. Google appraisers. There is a lady in the Quarter who is good but I forgot her name.

Contact Ann Conelly gallery in baton rouge, they can help you out. Agree with poster that said you will have better luck selling them in BR. We have a few of her originals she painted for us of the house, gardens other stuff and one of the marsh paintings she did, if memory serves me correctly the marsh series was something she did with cc Lockwood. her paintings fetched a nice sum back in day

Was waiting for someone to post some personal info on her.

I hadn't seen her in years - like close to 40 years - and only met her a handful of times, but her nephew was my inseparable friend - you know fellas, the one with whom you got into pretty much every kind of trouble possible over that time period from about 4th grade until 11th or 12th grade? And the only reason it ended then was one of us discovering the concept of steady poon?

We still keep in touch. Shooting him a text right now to tell him there's been an Aunt Rhea siting on the OT. If I play this right, I can likely out his freakin screen name. He swears he doesnt' read this drivel, but I know he's lying.
