Anyone use AAA auto insurance?

Been with state farm for years, but randomly filled out a quote sheet for AAA just out of curiousity.
An agent called me and gave me a quote for like $550 / 6mos when I'm paying like $1050 at state farm. I doubled checked and all coverages / deductibles were the same. Feel like I have to switch unless there is some big problem with AAA.
Anyone have any experience (good or bad) with AAA insurance.

AAA is different than State Farm.

I haven't had AAA before, so I can't give you first hand info on the company....I have had state farm and never had a single bit of trouble with them when I filed a claim.
fwiw, insurance companies are regulated by the government and must set their rates based on the claims that they pay...think about that for a minute.

Insurance in Nola is crazy. $170 / month isn't out of the ordinary. I drive a 2011 infiniti. Perfect driving record.

They're hit or miss.
Back in December, I was with my gf and my car stalled out right next to the 9th ward. Thankfully, this preacher was outside and he came jogging over, telling us we needed to get out of here because no white people could be out there past dark. Anyway, I get AAA on the phone and told them this, even let the preacher speak to them. So they tell me I'm on a priority list meaning I should see someone within 45 minutes. Flash forward 3 and a half hours and finally I get a tow out there.
Outside of that incident, they've been really good though.

Some quotes may be low-balled to get your business.
Another possibility, I had one agent tell me that their rates were set based on their companies' experience with my car's year/make/model.
It is possible AAA had better claims experience with your vehicle than State Farm did.
Over the last year, State Farm has raised my rates almost 70% on a 15 year old car. News reports say rates are going up 25% to 50% nationwide.
I stay with SF because I have guaranteed renewability.

I had AAA for car insurance and Homeowners for years. Always provide good service and never had an issue with the two claims I had to make (1 car and 1 HO).
AAA stopped providing HO insurance in La which ended up causing me to switch both.
