Wife has sleep apnea which results in serious snoring. Keeps me awake or wakes me up throughout the night. She tried the C-Pap machine with 3 or 4 different masks but each causes her problem so she is quitting the machine.

Looking for feedback on sleep meds for me. Anyone take one regularly? Any difficulty waking up? I have never taken a sleep med, but have taken meds like Lortab and such post medical procedures and that stuff has me loopy for hours the next day.

I like waking up and working out first thing in the morning, so I am concerned about being in a fog the next day. Interested in your experiences with sleep meds.

Oh...and for the peanut gallery. No pics of wife. Yes, I tried to PIIHB. Yes, meds are trashy. I've never posted this before, but I am sure it is Germans anyway and yes, I am sure sleep meds will give me the aids. Hmmm....did I forget anything? Oh yes, sleep meds will cause me to catch the ghey.

Not a good sleeping aid at all.

Try melatonin out and from there, talk to a Dr.

Melatonin is not the best thing to take. It will prevent you body from naturally making melatonin.

All jokes aside, I'm not sure the C-Pap is something docs prescribe as an "at your discretion" treatment. People die from sleep apnea.

Sleep meds aren't for people who can sleep fine on their own but are otherwise kept awake by outside stimulants. Try earmuffs.

If you're intent upon medicating, though, I used alcohol for years. It works, but it can be expensive and has side effects.

The last time I took Ambien, my neighbor made a stink out of me weed eating yard at 3am.

Melatonin causes the least side effects imo.

Insomnia doesn't require you to be an a-hole. I'm sure there was something quieter you could have done during your sleepless nights.

Look, the Ambient Walrus is a very powerful and convincing adversary. When you take Ambien, you are at the mercy of Ambien Walrus.

I use melatonin and it works like a charm. Take it about 45 minutes - an hour before i'm ready to get in to bed. Leave off the tv (I've recently been putting on some soft classical music to help me go to sleep) and i'm out in 10 - 15 minutes every night.

Had trouble sleeping for years before I did this though. I don't take it on the weekends because it says not to take it for multiple weeks straight.

Fair enough. But in my experience I've found it to leave me the least drowsy compared to Nyquil, Tylenol PM, etc. Pick your battles I reckon.

Magnesium, no bright blue light, 67 on the thermostat, ceiling fan on, not be hungry or full just in between, comfortable in ear noise cancelling headphones to listen to boring youtube video documentaries or read kindle on low light. boom. you're asleep

I have before but haven't taken sleeping pills in years. They always make me sleepy for 15 hours when I really only want 8.
