Do not go the WGU route. You are voluntarily limiting your career options while putting in a similar amount of work.

To the OP... This ^^^ is also solid advice. It will never come UP in an interview this way.

What field are you in OP? Is this just to check the box on a resume?
WGU takes tech certs and applies them toward a tech degree

There are plenty of credible universities that offer online degrees, especially graduate degrees. Many state schools do not charge out of state tuition for online students.

What program are you looking at and I will give you a list of 10 schools to look at.

Sorry for the late response -- I'm looking at computer science/computer engineering.

I appreciate the opinions though -- I figured they were like a SNHU school, but couldn't tell for certain.

FYI, Southern New Hampshire is a legit, non-profit university and PJ Carlisimo even coached there in the 70s.

They just decided to tap into the online/continuing education market hard.

Their yearly matchup with Eastern Governors is a huge rivalry game.

I got a degree from snhu. It is a small private university with an extensive online catalog. It seems a lot of the alumni is upset with all the advertising because it causes people to group them with phoenix

Whatever you do, don't do Phoenix. It's a joke. My dog could get a degree from there - seriously. I taught with them for a couple of terms and walked away. The money wasn't that bad, but the courses were all watered down for those who could not get into a regular school that had selective admissions. UOP is open admissions. Whenever I tried to make the course more challenging, I caught hell from the administration. The administration will tell faculty that they want academic rigor, but God be with you if you give anything lower than a C for a final grade. They also frowned on giving tests, which I did anyway. However, many of the students could not read and write at an adequate level for college, which is why they went to UOP. The old saying was "pay the fees and get the C's". As noted earlier, I walked after two classes in total disgust and went back to teaching at a standard university, and eventually wound up teaching part-time for the university of my dreams, which I still do to this day.

One other thing, even though UOP may be "regionally accredited", their course credits will NOT transfer to a regular school. That says plenty right there.

The nice thing about WGU is that if you have a CCNA or another like cert you don't have to take the corresponding class. Also if memory serves in some classes getting the cert is part of the class itself.

I got my undergrad from there with tuition reimbursement from my employer. $3000 for a 6 month semester and all classes are one at a time. Sure it won't stand out on a resume but my employer respects it..... they approved paying for it. If you can.... go to Harvard or LSU. Not all of us have the money or schedule to achieve that yet the OT will still shite on less known schools.
