I haven't been on a payroll in 12 years. I'm 100% self-employed, commission only. I like to control my schedule and I like to go to all my children's events.Coincidentally today is the beginning of a 14 day vacation (three weeks so far this year). I'm incapable of working for other people because I'm too old to be accountable to somebody not named Mrs. Pimp , I like to be my own boss, and I like to make bigger dollars than a "boss" allows. So I created my own job that fits my talents, had a mentor/inspirational example, and got really, really lucky.
I have no doubt that many of my neighbors think I'm unemployed. They see me outside and roll down the windows and make witty comments. I play along. A few know I'm killing it, but most have no clue. I like it that way.
