So I'm scooter shopping. And I've narrowed down my brand to Genuine. Their scooters are made in Taiwan (the scooter capital of the world), offer a 2 year full warranty and I can't find a person/forum to say anything bad about the brand.

Essentially, I'm debating between two scooters.

I can get a 50cc (two stroke) roughhouse that is off road friendly and nice looking. Maxing out at 45-48mph. This scooter would be just for me.

The second is a 125 with a side car. Has a solid, really classic look. Maxing out at 55-60mph. The SO (or anyone for that matter) would ride in the side car. Also, I'd like to get some dog goggles and let my dog ride in it.

So, any experiences with these? Which one should I get?

The best one is the one with 2 front wheels. It's not a vespa but that's the parent company. The top of the line model will do a hundred. I'd love to have one

If I were to pick, it would be the first one.

I call my Harley Davidson Ultra Classic Electra Glide my "scooter". Does that count?

How are a fat girl and a scooter the same?

They are both fun to ride but you dont want your friends to see you on one.

Noted. I really like the sidecar model. Also, keep in mind that it only takes undoing 5 quick bolts to take the sidecar off, making it a natural scooter.

Anyone who rides in the side car is automatically the drivers bitch for life. It's a fact. I read it in a book

Oh I've taken it out back in my home town where he lives. It's so smooth. No doubt it's a great bike. His unfortunately hasn't left his bubble in about 2 years.

I'm just looking for something to cruise to work and back (3 miles one way but may get a little longer with a new job in the near future), and to take it on the beach and bay front roads on the weekends, south - southeast of Houston.

I vote sidecar. But not so your SO or mom can ride, but for all the dimes that you are undoubtedly going to pick up rolling in that hog.

You want the bigger engine for sure. It gives you the ability to travel safely in many more roads compared to the 50cc. Is the 125 a two stroke as well? I'd prefer 4 cycle personally.

The 125 is a 4 stroke. It also comes in a Automatic and a 4 speed manual. I'd probably go with the manual because I just think the CVT would eventually have issues with the weight of the sidecar.

I like the 2nd one. Looks like a Vespa, which I always thought were overpriced. I'd like to think if I was only 3 miles from work, I would walk or bike my way there. But that could be a pain in the butt over time..

I'm just looking for som

No doubt, the Ultra is as smooth as warm butter. I love mine.

As for your riding, and this is just my advice to you, I'd get something bigger for the type of riding you plan on doing. A small scooter like you're talking about would be fine for a few miles to work and back. But if you're wanting to get out on weekends and go riding, I'd look more at either a bigger scooter like a Yamaha Majesty or better yet a motorcycle like a Sportster 1200 or a Dyna.

I say that because I've seen a lot of guys who want to start riding go out and buy something really small and it never fails that within six months they're looking to trade it in on something bigger and more comfortable.
