Id imagine youd get vastly different answers from folks living near Boston/Western Mass/Maine/Vermont, etc.

Expensive, cold, everyone makes fun of your accent. You get used to it. There were tons of full service gas stations when I lived in New York. That was nice when it was -15 degrees.

Lived in NH for 2 years. You definitely get all 4 seasons up there. Winters sucked but I don't think it would be that hard to get used to the temps/snow. NH folks I was around were damn good people, like Northern rednecks.

My sister used to live in Rhode Island and I'd visit her a couple of times a year when I was in college. In Boston/New York I definitely got that vibe a lot but in the more rural areas it was just rednecks with a different accent. It's kind of like saying everybody in Louisiana is an arse hole because you spent a week in New Orleans.

Lived in Boston for five years and now live in New Hampshire and love it! Originally from New Orleans and went to LSU. Lots of jobs you get to experience all four seasons and the public schools are pretty good. To answer any questions you might have

Depends where you live. My town is very red so that helps. Cost of living is high but public schools are top notch. I like to think I do well financially but both me and my wife work. Most of the wives are stay at home because the husbands crush it. Not a lot of diversity.

More expensive than the south for sure - particularly housing, and more particularly in MA, RI, and CT. ME, NH, and VT are more like the south than the other states. Need to be able to deal with the cold and lots of snow. Beaches are not white sand and the water even in the summer rarely gets much into the 70s. But good fishing (fresh and salt), hiking, and hunting if you are into that.
Generally, the people are not as openly friendly, but there are a lot of great people there once you get to know them.

That really depends on what your reasons are for moving there. Is it a permanent move? Work-related move?
I moved to New York when I was 18 to go somewhere completely different from growing up in rural Louisiana. I went back for work trips frequently over the next 15 years. I hated the winters with a passion.
You're closer to big events. Concerts, sporting events, etc. Other big cities really aren't too far away. Tons of historic stuff to go check out. Museums are cool. Huge variety of good food. Hole in the wall places in Chinatown or Little Italy were my favorite.
It's hard to just pack up and move your entire life, though. Starting over with new friends, new job, not knowing where anything is. It's expensive to go back home and visit family. I saw my family maybe 1-2 times a year if I went home and they came to visit.
