Who do you use? Is it worth it? How does it work? Like a human plan where you just make a copay? Or do you pay upfront and then get reimbursed?

I saw a flyer a few years ago. I think it was like a regular health insurance plan. Premiums and copays. I don't think it's a smart thing but I'm no expert.

I use Petgressive's 401k9 plan. Pretty sweet deal. First time I submitted a claim I was reimbursed 80% of the cost of the burial shovel.

My cat has life insurance. She's a baller. When she goes I'm gonna be living large.

I think its about medical insurance and its very smart to do depending on your breed and its lifestyle.

I have it one of my dogs due to the breed. She's an Italian Greyhound and they are prone to leg breaks because of their very small leg bones. Requires a specialist and costs upwards of $5,000 to repair. Know someone that this happened to so we opted for the insurance just for her. We have the cheapest plan thru VPI and it normally pays 80% depending on the issue. No leg breaks but it has been a good investment because she's had other stuff wrong which included a visit to Auburn Vet School which ended up being around a $1,000 bill.

No insurance on other dog (Doberman) but luckily he's very healthy and has had no issues.

Best pet we ever had was a weiner dog named Frank. When he died, I buried him with a post hole digger.

Obamacare should be a package deal with pet insurance included

Old HOA required a liability policy on pets. After we moved I kept the policy. They are covered If they were to ever bite anyone or get a hold of someones miniature pinscher.

It's relatively inexpensive. I want to say it's $250/year, but I don't remember the exact amount.

The company I work for is offering this now. It's underwritten by Nationwide.

I can't insure my wife if her employer offers health ins (thanks Barrycare) but I can insure my mutt. Something just seems wrong with that.

I have a plan on my boxer and it is about to pay for itself for the next 5 years on one claim. He has a torn ACL and will be getting surgery on Wed.

You are a "certified moron" if you don't have pet insurance on certain breeds.

Liability should be the only thing considered in case your pet attacks someone.

If the cost of a vet visit exceeds the cost of a new dog of the same breed (plus all shots, etc), I am of the opinion that it is time for a new dog.

we have care credit, had to get it when we picked up a beat up old dog at my hunting camp and tried to fix her up... $3000 we gave it away

its just a credit card but only used at vets. not sure why we didn't just use a regular credit card, I seem to remember the interest rate being really high

Girlfriend has carecredit. She first used it for Lasik. later on realized it was good for vet visits too.

I thought the allure was an interest freee period after a transaction. like a 90 days same as cash then usual 20something% a normal cc charges.

It's handy to have for emergencies with two small dogs

So if someone has a family member that needs surgery costing $1,000's but thanks to paying $20 - $30 a month they wind up only paying $100's that makes them a moron? I'll bet you are one of those that would just take them out back and put a slug in their head and maybe...if you were feeling nice that day, dig a hole.

I use Pet's Best at about $30 per month. Absolutely worth it for my Cane Corso Mastiff. She came down with a bacterial infection a few months ago on the weekend which had me take her to emergency clinic and leave her overnight. She was spewing out of all holes, not eating and extremely dehydrated. They had to put her on an IV and constant monitoring, special food and injections. The bill wound up being $1900 and insurance covered 80%. If you love your pet it is absolutely worth it! I don't believe the extra cost of general maintenance which includes annual vaccines, heart worm and check-ups is worth it though. But that is basically determining if you prefer to pay larger sums at time of the visit versus a regular monthly amount that covers those costs but it doesn't really save anything that I could tell.
