If you truly lost a tooth, there is nothing left for a crown.

An implant is what you will be considering. Those are typically $4,000 per tooth.

This is correct. You can get on the waiting list at Lsu dental school and it'll be abt a fourth of that done by a student. Implants and bridges are expenvide as f

From what I can tell insurance usually doesn't cover it because its cosmetic.

You just need to have the insurance so that you can pay what the insurance fee schedule amount is and not the cash price.

Wouldn't the cash price be less? It seems that's how it is in other medical costs. Admittedly never had to deal with it so I'm clueless.

Lots of incorrect information floated here.

1. Insurance will usually pay a percentage of the cost when crowns are used to restore procedure damaged/decayed teeth, it is not just a cosmetic procedure.

2. Using a bridge to replace a missing tooth, requires modification of other health teeth, a implant while expensive is usually the best option.

3. Crowns are not always a multi visit process if your dentist has modern equipment, they can scan the prepped tooth and mill a ceramic crown while you wait.

Just got a crown on Monday. The temp is in there now and I go back in two weeks for the permanent. I have insurance and my out of pocket was $450. The cost without was around $980.

I went to Dr. Collins at Sherwood Dental. He did a good job. I felt no pain the day after which was yesterday.

I just got one on a top molar about two weeks ago. I've still got the temp in, but they just called and said my permanent is in. The temp feels kind of funny, so I'm hoping the permanent one will be better. I think I paid about $600 out-of-pocket. That's with my insurance covering 60% of the cost

My dentist uses something called CEREC. It's like a little CNC machine that makes the permanent crown in less than hour on site. $600 out of pocket that's with insurance.

How lazy do you have to be to not take care of your teeth?

Getting a crown is pretty common. 178 million Americans are missing at least one of their natural teeth. That's a lot of people.

I brush my teeth every day. I blame it on drinking large amounts of soda for a long time but I cut way back on that about a year ago.

Cracked a back tooth a couple years ago on a piece of bone in some shredded BBQ chicken. Got a root canal and a porcelain crown and it's just like a normal tooth. Once the slickness goes away you can hardly tell which one it is.

Certainly sucks but don't see how this is trashy to have a crown, shite happens.

ETA: was about 2k for the whole thing, insurance covered part of the root canal but not the crown. My dentist had the machine as well that cuts it on site
