If I had a nickel for every time I said this over the last three years, I'd have my son's college fund ready to go already. It's better to not worry about everyone else.

It happens so much more than is even reported, so chances are there are a lot of pieces of shite who got a "freebie" and may have never known.

My wife and I went through this a year and a half ago. It was tough. She went through all the hormone swings and even self blame. The best thing I did was assure her that I married her for her and if we couldn't have kids then we'd just be the aunt and uncle the spoiled the mess out of our nieces and nephews. The other thing was surround her with happy people. She'll need some girl time with her mom, sister and girl friends. All that being said we just had a baby boy! Lots of prayers!

My wife and I had it happen three separate times (the first time they were actually twins involved). Each time she miscarried the week we should have seen the heartbeat. My wife already had a son from a previous marriage and I had none. So I know it was bad on here but was bad on me also because I was not sure if we were going to be able to have any. But had all kind of genetic test done and the doctor said that nothing was out of the ordinary, that it would be like standing in front of a slot machine. If we were willing to take the chance one of them would hit. Sure enough the next pregnancy stuck and I have a healthy four year old right now. The week that we were to see the heartbeat she was so ready to hear we lost it again, I think it wasn’t till we we to the car that she believed we had crossed that hurdle.

I feel for you and hang in there.

Mine had one, ob said it's pretty common early on especially in first time moms. Luckily our next try we got a son

ETA: it was a pretty awful experience, but you move on. Additionally, that is why the custom is to not announce a pregnancy until at least 12 weeks because the chance of miscarriage drops significantly after that.

Allow yourself to grieve, I know you want to be there for your wife and you should. But you also suffered a loss, its OK for you to be a little selfish.

Yes - We have a daughter 20 and a 16 old son. The child that miscarried would have been #2, so the son would have never been born.

The son is a great kid and my hunting buddy. I wouldn't change God's plan for the world.

My college buddy is an OBGYN, he told me every kid that is born is a miracle, when like him you know everything that can go wrong.

Miscarriages happen to lot of people, its just that most don't let anyone know about it because it usually happens so early in the pregnancy.

Sorry for your loss.

One of our twins miscarried 7 months in. He was the brother of my 2 year old son. My son is fine. We had no explanation. Thankful for the two healthy kids I have.

My grandmother, who was a neo-natal nurse for 30 years told my aunt this after her miscarriage:
Nature's way off saying there was something wrong with the baby. Don't trouble yourself too hard.

It may sound harsh, but it is accurate.

There will be other opportunities, as my aunt learned.

I agree. I had no idea this many people would have the same bad news. We're just waiting to see what God has in store for us

Our 4th was and it is really sad. Good news is that your wife hopefully can still try again. We did and had our 5th after getting pregnant only a couple of months later.
