Anyone ever gone to a passport agency appointment? I'm wondering if they print your passport while you're there so you can walk out with it.

Here's some context if you're curious:
Traveling internationally in 2 weeks. No passport because bad planning. I was lucky enough to secure an appointment with the NOLA passport agency a few days before my departure. Have all the documentation they need for the appointment. Hoping to walk out with the physical passport to avoid them having to overnight mail it or something once it's printed.

I have done it. Had lunch downtown while I waited.

You will get your passport that day. You just have to pay the $200-250 for it. I don't remember the exact amount.

Are you in BR? I went over to the place on Coursey to get mine. I didn't leave with it that day but it came within a few days I believe

I went to New Orleans for the same day passport.

I've got a few friends who have done this, so I believe it, since they were able to travel with us, but I have never seen any official info that admits they will do anything quicker than overnight it to you.

ETA: It's also one of those situations where it's not really clear how you might get a same day appointment, since they always seem to "officially" be booked up.

I did the same day passport in Nola, you have to have all of your documents and pictures with you. Went in the morning, went to lunch, went back and picked up the passport. Have to have proof of international travel within a few days as well

This .

I got my passport renewed in Texas at the end of 2019.. thankful i got it done then, not that ive used it during the pandemic, but just becuase *everything* takes longer now, and probably will in the future.. they expedited it for me, i think it was only $50 or $75 extra in addition to the regular fees, and they got it to me in a few days.. i believe there was an option to get it same day or next day for $200-$300… but again, that was pre-panny, so IF they now can do same day /next day service, expect to pay as much as the airfare cost you for your trip .

There actually are .. cant remember which country, but i was watching some expat video on Utube and noticed a Cane’s in the background… also i know there is at least one Cane’s in Hawaii (i realize that isnt a foreign country).. but for some reason there arent any Canes in the area of Tennessee where i live, in at least a two hour radius.. have never understood it, maybe b/c so many Bojangles, Zaxby’s and similar .

Yes. In NOLA. Go to Harrahs for a few hours while you wait. Pick up same day. President of my company had to write letter as proof of international travel.

I checked Cane’s website and they do not list any locations outside of the US.

I just had to do this last Friday due to international travel for work. If you were able to get an appointment in New Orleans good for you I had to make a trip to El Paso just to get passport. All you need is all your paperwork and proof of international travel and they will have it ready for you in about two or three hours.

I've had to do this a few times, but all pre-Covid.

Each time was different. Many years ago they would always let you come back to pick it up same day.

Years later they were telling me (and anyone else in the office that day), if you had more than 1 day until travel, that it would be mailed. And it was always sent Express Mail with the USPS, which didn't leave me feeling warm and fuzzy. But it did arrive on time.

Sorry, no idea what they're doing now. Have had good experiences using one of the passport expeditors in Houston for expedited Visa and passport services, but they are expensive. It can all be done by FedEx. Given your timeline, this is what I'd recommend.

I've used this company before, there are others:

No, but you can. Here is how to works for New Orleans Passport office. Call the # to schedule an appointment. You may wait up to three hours on hold to make the appointment. You MUST have some sort of international reservation within the next three days and proof to make appointment.

Good luck.

Yes you will get your passport the same day. The NOLA passport office has printing on site. I did it last year.

Make sure you bring all required documents. Proof of travel, money order or whatever dumb shite they require, passport photos, etc. If you don't have those with you when you go, youre going to be SOL

I sit corrected.

If traveling to Kuwait, Cane’s is an option.
