Started Keto last year and dropped 15lbs. Admittedly is was hard to get into Keto and maintain the fat intake with my busy schedule.

Thinking of trying it again. Anyone in Keto right now? Having success? Tips?

Read about it the last time it was on the board. I guess some people just don't know how to eat right and exercise to maintain a healthy lifestyle, and need these gimmick plans to expedite results?

75-80% of my intake are vegetables. I drink water, limit fat intake, all but cut out sugar (it's the devil)and eat lean proteins. Cardio every other day, and light circuit training on other days.

I did it last summer and dropped 30 pounds in 5 weeks. Managed to keep most of it off since then, but it's hard to maintain for a long period of time. If you are going to do it, i suggest planning your meals in advance so you aren't tempted to grab carb loaded snacks at the gas station.

Similar to atkins. Very high fat diet but they discourage the high protein that is in atkins

you eat in a certain way to get your body into ketosis

quote:

Ketosis /k?'to?s?s/ is a metabolic state in which most of the body's energy supply comes from ketone bodies in the blood, in contrast to a state of glycolysis in which blood glucose provides most of the energy

quote:

In glycolysis, higher levels of insulin promote storage of body fat and block release of fat from adipose tissues, while in ketosis, fat reserves are readily released and consumed.[5][7] For this reason, ketosis is sometimes referred to as the body's "fat burning" mode.

if you can get your body into ketosis, you burn the living shite out of fat

You're probably in ketosis if those vegetables aren't corn and potatoes

It's great until you start building up so much ammonia in your liver that you go into liver failure.

Looks like another fad diet. Gotta love watching people cycle through these diets. Eating a balanced diet and staying relatively active will help you lose weight, and it's actually sustainable, whereas people go on these diets then stop and get fat again. It's good for your heart, muscles and bones too.

^^this. I used to be think all the gimmick plans were the key, but i have been able to shed 15 pounds since New Years with better eating like

and weight training. hardly any to zero amount of cardio. weekend cheat days are good too.

but to each his own. if you wanna eat shitty and your body can take it and still look good more power to you. I wish I could do that. I miss pizza and Mexican food all day err day

i think a big issue many people have when going to these low card high fat/protein/veg diets is this

if you give your body this fuel, then you better use that fuel. and the best way to do that is via weight training

It's basically the way bodybuilders live the last 4 weeks or so out from a competition. High fat/super low carb and which makes your body burn it's own remaining fat instead of relying on glucose/insulin. It's the basis on how they get that extreme striated vascular look.

Well, you dont have to avoid carbs, just certain types. We were never meant to eat carbs the way that a modern human does, especially a modern America. We have a "fatfrick syndrome" in America, mainly due to over consumption of carbs.
