They used to cut a V-shaped section out of the top of a solid bun and load the resulting trough in the bottom part with your stuff.

Not going to read the whole thread. Read two pages & didn't see the right answer.

I thought they did it because it looked like you got more meat when a bunch was hanging out of one side. Every other sandwich shop's sandwiches had meat hanging out of two sides.
I formed my original negative opinion of them because of that and their anal pre-measuring of everything. They seemed awful stingy to me.
